We bought this watch for our 10 yr old to text/call us when he got home from school. I also wanted to be able to look up his location when he is riding bikes around the neighborhood with friends.I like how there aren’t any games or internet connection on this watch. I also like that it is water resistant.However, we are returning this watch for multiple reasons. First off, it is inconvenient to have to get on the app to send a text to his watch. We also didn’t like that he is not able to type in a response to a text message, he can only choose from a handful of pre-made options which do not include “yes” or “no” so if we text him a question he is not able to respond yes or no.Another thing that was disappointing was the gps. He was in our backyard and it was saying he was in another state! How useless to have gps on a kid watch if it is completely inaccurate!We are returning this and purchasing a used Apple Watch that we will still be able to monitor from our phones.I have never seen devices, which can't accept/read generic SIM-cards (unless they are specifically/artificially blocked on specific networks, like you heard about Verizon, Att, T-mobile or alike, and I understand those cases) but this device is said not to be blocked on a specific network, however, in reality it can't recognize and work in dozens of countries with regular GSM provider sim cards.What can be said about that, other then the crappy quality of chipset/hardware? Any normal device which is said to work on Sim-Card (even 20$ chinese phones) can read and recognize any regular sim card. However, Explora doesnt work with normal sim-cards and is said to "only work on some few European countrie's sim cards". dissapointed.This watch is a great introduction to technology for children. My son loves the freedom to chat/call with his contacts without having to rely on me to do so. I love that I can keep him safe by limiting his contact with people we know and trust. He also really loves keeping track of his steps - it often turns into a competition between us to see who can reach their step counts first! It's a win/win in our household!This watch has been a great alternative to get a few phone for my daughter. We’re able to add approved contacts she can call and she we can send messages through the app. She has really enjoyed the watch apps like the camera and calculator. This watch has given us a lot of peace of mind when we drop her off for her many activities.I got this for my 7 year old son. My husband and I both use smart watches and he had begged for one. My favorite feature (and I think my son’s too) is the calling feature. You are able to set up a list of phone numbers who can call your child and vice versa. My son has loved the independence of being able to call us and his grandparents all on his own and the grandparents have loved receiving his calls. You can also send messages. My only complaint is that they have to be done through the Xplora app and our parents couldn’t figure it out. I wish there was a way for it to go through normal texting. The watch also counts steps and gives the children coins as an award that they can use in the app arcade. There is a gps tracking feature. I think it’s also definitely worth mentioning that Xplora has great customer support. They’ve been quick to help me and answer questions.We had a bit of an issue at first with the SIM card being a non-US SIM card, but as soon as we discovered that, the friendly Xplora staff was able to quickly resolve it and sent us a new one right away! Now that we have a US SIM card, the watch has been working brilliantly. Our son loves wearing the watch, calling and sending me messages and counting his steps. Love that he can get rewards too!We're not quite ready to give our 8-year old a phone, but needed something to communicate with her when she is going to friend's houses or activities for school. This watch is a really great alternative for that! You program the only numbers they can message/call. You do need the app on your phone to communicate with them. The location hasn't been exact, but within the vicinity where I know she's at. Overall, it's a really great option for little ones learning the responsibility of having a device.First, the size of the watch is perfect for my son’s arm. It isn’t too big or too small, and there is plenty of room left in the adjustable sizes for him to wear it many years. My family is very competitive with being active and getting steps, so my 7 year old son loves to track his steps using the step counter. In addition, he thinks the flashlight is a cool feature. Our favorite part is the ability for him to contact me or my husband without having to be responsible for carrying a phone around. Last, I love that I can use the GPS feature to make sure he is ok, and if he lost something (like a toy) while out playing, using the gps tracker can help us identify the path he was walking to locate the missing item. Overall, great Xplora XGO2 is perfect for our 7 year old’s needs and safety.
